About M&V

About Me: Sierra Robertson

I am a recent graduate of the Foster School of Business at UW, where I majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. After college, I have continued to serve my alma mater and the UW American Marketing Association in my new role as the VP of Collegiate Relations for the professional Puget Sound chapter.

Like Mike Rowe says, I believe in working hard AND smart. I have found a passion in relieving small businesses of those nagging to-dos at the end of their list. With my company, Madison and Vine Consulting, I have developed a particular relationship with authors as clients, and I write on social media for those who spend all day writing. I take my time to read deeply, research thoroughly, and truly take on the voice of the client for whom I write. My authors are my toughest critics, and it challenges me to produce a knock-out every time I post.

I believe in self-sufficiency, in getting up early and staying up late, in taking pride in a job well done no matter the position. I strive to be excellent in what I do, and never expect the road to be easy. I have received many blessings already in my life.

I love family, knitting, books and coffee, and videos of babies laughing.

My Mission:

As a small business owner, how often do you say to yourself, Gosh, I really should do X to grow my business, but I never seem to have the time?

At Madison and Vine Consulting, I provide social media content writing and community management, online reputation monitoring, website rebuilds and updates (I specialize in Squarespace and Wix, but am comfortable with Wordpress sites), and email newsletter writing and blogging.

I'm just one gal with a laptop and two monitors. I'm not aspiring to be a big agency, or take on the world, or even expand out of this Starbucks office space. But there are lots of companies in the world who have business goals, long to-do lists, and need some help to accomplish them.

I will always be affordable, and scalable to every budget. Like I said, I'm not one of the big guys. Don't pay massive monthly retainers for daily Facebook posts and round the clock community management if that's not what you need, and not what you can afford.

I will always be available and transparent in a way that the big guys can't be. You will always have access to my content documents, to your pages, and to my ear when you need me or have a question.

I will always be willing to learn a new skill or figure out a new project that is just for you. You and your business are unique. The right course of action to grow that business should be just as unique as you are. Whatever project you need done -- however non-marketing-ish it might seem -- if it's digital, I am ready and willing to help.

Madison and Vine: A Very Short and Sweet History

Where does the name Madison and Vine come from?

When I was in college -- admittedly, not that long ago -- there as a throw-away comment in my Intro to Marketing textbook about the hypothetical intersection between Madison Avenue (in New York, where the major ad agencies are) and Vine Street (in Hollywood, where the entertainment industry lives). At that intersection, you would find advertainment, the fusion of advertising and entertainment, or, content marketing.

Now that I am married, I can finally pursue my dream of owning my own business and serving the small companies that need that little extra oomph to take their business from good to great.

I call myself a content marketer, but my real purpose is to relieve smaller businesses of the headache of those nagging, time-consuming, ever-present online chores at the bottom of their endless to-do list.

So far, I have four clients, including a hair salon in Kent, WA, a Seattle start-up of UW alumni, an early chapter book series for girls, and a snowbird-cruiser-turned-author, for whom I do social media marketing, website building, and all projects digital. Some of the specialty, one-off projects I have done include sending warm-call emails to online influencers for my book series client, updating and restructuring the salon's website, and helping my start-up through a successful Kickstarter funding campaign.

As I begin onboarding new clients and learn new platforms, I have read nearly every article in the Etsy Seller's Handbook, and have composed a super simple but super informative PowerPoint presentation on how to use Instagram Stories.

Finding the right messages for your company to share with your customers can be tough!  Aggregating content, reading and commenting on it, and putting it in front of the eyes of your online community can be daunting.  Whatever project you want to accomplish, but have been at a loss for how to begin, that's where I can help. Whenever you are at the end of the day and dreading having to scroll through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, GooglePlus, TripAdvisor, or yet another "how to grow your following organically" blog post, that's where I can help.
